WELCOME to the Global Nomad Directory!

"Not All Who Wander Are Lost" -- JRR Tolkien (Global Nomad)

A global nomad is anyone of any nationality who has lived outside their parents¡¯country of origin (or their¡°passport country¡±) before adulthood because of a parent¡¯s occupation.
For years I've been hoping someone with computer skills would come up with a place for us Global Nomads to meet, discuss issues & feel at home. After years of waiting, I've finally taken matters into my own hands!
I hope this website serves as a cyber home for us to meet, network & share our expertise. Though I would be honored if lasting friendships & relationships come from this site, it is not a dating site!
All constructive criticism, suggestions, reports of abuse and comments are welcome!
My Global Nomad Story

I come from a long line of Global Nomads & expats. My great-grandfather and grandfather both worked in China. My father was brought up in China and I now live in the city where my grandparents met and married!

My father is American & my mother is Swiss so I have dual citizenship. My father worked for the Asia division of an int'l bank so that's where he met my mother (Bangkok) & we grew up. In a family of 7 kids, none of us, including our parents were born in the U.S. - my dad was born in England, my mom was born in Switzerland as was one of my brothers, my sisters were born in Manila, & two brothers were born in Saigon, Vietnam. I am the baby of the family and was born in Karachi, Pakistan.

We moved every 1 to 2 years. As a child I lived in Jakarta, Indonesia; Singapore; Okinawa, Japan; Calcutta, India; Manila, Philippines; and Guam USA. As an adult I've lived in the United States (CA, VA, DC & OR); Fribourg, Switzerland; Plzen, Czech Republic; Afabet, Eritrea (Peace Corps); Shenzhen, [Southern] China; Berlin, Germany & now Beijing, [Northern] China.

That is my story! What is yours?!?!
